Jimmy Choo: The drama behind the shoes
September 26th, 2009
For us dedicated followers of style, designer shoe label Jimmy Choo represents everything that is extravagant and decadent about fashion. A pair of these bad boys could make an entire outfit and to get them, many of us are prepared to go without paying our rent in a bid to save up the couple of hundred quid they cost. But to Tamara Mellon, the label means even more.
The boss of Jimmy Choo has not spoken to her mum, former Chanel model Ann Yeardye, since 2004 when the designer shoe empire was sold from under her nose and she allegedly lost out on company shares that were rightfully hers as a result.
Now we are talking about big money here, whether it’s enough to divide families depends on the members in question, but it has certainly riled gorgeous Tamara.
It has emerged that the brunette beauty, who has been talking about suing her mum since the storm erupted five years ago, has pulled out of the Los Angeles lawsuit she filed to have her stocks and shares returned to her.
But as well very well know, the world of A-list socialites and fashion stalwarts is a crafty one in which people are rarely let off the hook, so Tamara is reportedly planning yet another suit in the Channel Islands to get a massive £6 million from dear old mum.
A source told the Daily Mail: "By no means is Tamara backing down. The case in Jersey has always been more important, while the LA action was about rattling cages."
It all sounds a bit nasty to me, but as long as such legal problems have no effect on the fabulous shoes that are produced, I suppose we shouldn’t care.
What’s your favourite designer shoe label?
