How much flesh will attract the right attention?
November 18th, 2009
Women’s clothing should leave 40 per cent of their skin on show if they want to attract the right kind of male attention.
This was the result of a scientific survey, carried out by experts at the University of Leeds, to discover what balance women should strike when trying to decide what to wear on a night out.
Too much and women were perceived as too prudish, but too little and men were put off - here at Secret Sales we didn’t think a scientific study was needed to tell you that!
According to the research, published in the Behaviour journal, a leg accounts for 15 per cent and an arm is worth ten per cent.
Dr Colin Hendrie, the psychologist who led the study, told the Daily Mail: "Any more than 40 per cent and the signal changes from ‘allure’ to one indicating general availability and future infidelity.
"Show some leg, show some arm, but not any more than that," was his advice.
Kate Bosworth was perhaps close to this balance when she walked down the red carpet at the MOCA gala on Saturday night (November 14th). She wore a sleeveless leopard print dress with a high neck and teamed it with a black clutch bag and black court shoes.
What do you think of the 40 per cent rule? Too much or too little?
