Leggings - a spring saviour
January 21st, 2010
I absolutely love leggings and the trend has been a saviour on those days that you just aren’t prepared to brave the cold. However, the clothing is also an ideal option for the spring, especially for those who feel that going bare-legged may be a little too much to ask.
Lizanne Harris, fashion director at Stylist magazine said that women who are slightly older "can definitely get away with [leggings] as an undergarment, so under a skirt."
"Gladiator sandals and leggings under a full skirt are great," she continued.
"In fact, DKNY - their whole collection they had knee-length shorts used as underpinnings for things like a shirtdress," explained Lizanne.
Here at Secret Sales HQ we think they are perfect for women of any age who want to feel a little bit more covered up. Plus there are so many styles on the high street as well as from designer clothing labels to choose from.
That said, Lizanne advises to steer clear from jeggings - leggings designed to look like straight-leg jeans - which she thinks are hideous.
Scarves, shoes, belts and jewellery are all ways in which slightly older women can bring their outfits on trend without having to be too daring, suggested Hilary Alexander in the Telegraph.
