Braces “coming into vogue”?
January 9th, 2010
When you talk about the latest fashion accessory, what immediately springs to mind? Designer handbags, shoes, scarves, jewellery …? What about braces?
I don’t mean the kind of braces that are used to keep your trousers up. No, orthodontic braces "may finally be coming into vogue" reports Wales Online.
A new kind of teeth straightening device has been invented that is less visible than traditional braces - but costs more - and aims to help people achieve the perfect Hollywood smile.
"With more media coverage focusing on appearance and celebrities, the general public feel more pressured in achieving the perfect smile," said a spokesperson for the British Dental Association.
A survey by the British Lingual Orthodontic society discovered that approximately one-fifth of adults in the UK believe they need braces.
Straight, white teeth can make such a difference to your appearance - no wonder its one of the first things celebrities have done when they have some money.
The Cosmetic Dentistry Guide stated that Cheryl Cole has undergone around £10,000 worth of work on her pearly whites and that Kelly Brook and Tom Cruise have also famously had work done on their gnashers.
