Avoid Valentine’s Day clothing dilemmas this year
February 9th, 2010
I don’t know about you but every single year I seem to have some sort of clothing-related dilemma on Valentine’s Day.
Let’s face it, whether you’re heading out on a romantic date with your significant other or going out for a fabulous night on the town with your girlfriends, we will all welcome a little bit of fashion advice.
Harriet Quick over at Vogue has given some top tips for us fashionistas to ensure that we look simply gorgeous, however we choose to spend the most romantic day of the year.
Rather than opting for a full-on red or pink number, she suggests adding just a touch of red to your outfit - perhaps a stunning pair of designer shoes or subtle red earrings would do the trick?
Furthermore, designers such as Stella McCartney and Erdem have encapsulated this season’s pretty floral trend, which could be perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Who knows, maybe wearing a floral dress or top will even encourage your man to get down to the florist and order you a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Maybe that’s wishful thinking on my part!
Finally, Harriet advises that those of you heading out on a first date should opt for a small clutch bag, as "no one wants to look as though they have baggage" (whether that be the emotional sort or the abundance of useless belongings that I seem to accumulate in my Mulberry bag)!
If you’re stuck on what to get your loved one for Valentine’s Day this year then you might be wise to go for a good old-fashioned kiss and cuddle - 84 per cent of people who took part in a recent survey by Rolo said that they would prefer a small, romantic gesture than being showered with lavish gifts.
Do you have any plans this Valentine’s Day?
