Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has design aspirations
November 14th, 2009
Now I know she won’t be the first celebrity to try her hand at creating a designer clothing line, but you would think that looking at the so-called disastrous efforts of Lindsay Lohan of late might have made Ashlee Simpson-Wentz think twice?
After being dropped from her role on the US remake of Melrose Place in October, it seems that she is now set on following her sister’s footsteps into the world of fashion.
Jessica Simpson already has a comprehensive clothing line, and admittedly, it’s not something that I would choose to hang in my wardrobe, but I believe she has had some degree of success.
"Ashlee wants to start a clothing line. She wants it to be both preppy and punk rock. She thinks she can really succeed in fashion," a source told Star magazine in the US.
You would think that after Emmanual Ungaro slammed Lohan’s collection for his former fashion house, stating her catwalk show was a "disaster", that these young celebs would leave the job to the designers.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom on the celebrity-turned designer front. Marc Jacobs praised Victoria Beckham this week in the Times for her VB designer clothing collection.
Should Ashlee Simpson go ahead with her own label? Let us know what you think.
