Susan Sarandon says yes to flats

If I was ever given the chance to walk down the red carpet, the first thing I’d do is go right out and treat myself to a sky-high pair of designer shoes!

But I guess if you’ve been playing the Hollywood game for decades like Susan Sarandon, you can be forgiven for wanting to forego style in the name of comfort.

The actress, who sported a gorgeous pair of high heels at the global premiere of new film The Lovely Bones in London last month, opted for a much more low-key footwear style at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre for the film’s Los Angeles premiere.

While 63-year-old Susan looked striking from the ankles up in her fitted navy blue dress, her feet were more weekend chic than red carpet fab in a pair of grey-blue flats.

Now I’m all for comfortable footwear - after all, I walk everywhere in London - but surely the red carpet calls for statuesque designer shoes?

At least she didn’t wear a baseball cap to the premiere, like executive producer Steven Spielberg!

The Lovely Bones is based on a 2002 novel written by Alice Sebold and was directed by Peter Jackson. It also stars Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci.
