Kate Moss: Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels

Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels

We at the Secret Sales office have very mixed feelings when it comes to Kate Moss. We love her designer clothing ranges for the high street and her homegrown success, but her behaviour doesn’t always set the right example to her young adoring fans.

Speaking to fashion news website WWD recently, Kate revealed that one of the "mottos" she follows to keep her on the road to success is: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels".

Although she quickly added that it didn’t work, the 35-year-old mother has caused shockwaves within the industry for the irresponsible message this phrase sends out.

Former Ultimo underwear model Katie Green, who is behind the Say No To Size Zero Campaign, has slammed the supermodel for her comments, suggesting that it could lead to more eating disorders in the UK.

"Millions of girls aspire to be like Kate Moss. These comments are shocking and irresponsible," she said.

Denise Van Outen also spoke out in anger about the comments.

According to research carried out by Lion Eggs this month, on average, women who are dieting for the Christmas period are hoping to lose as much as ten pounds. And ten per cent said that impressing a man was the main reason they wanted to shed weight.

Now come on girls, buy a dress that fits this season, and if you are going to try and slim down, do it the sensible way by eating healthily and doing exercise.

Are you as shocked by Kate’s comments as I am?

Kate Moss is too skinny and it’s not jealously! She doesn’t even look like a woman, where are her boobs and hips?!

The writer of Secretsales.com has written a superior article. I got your point and there is nothing to argue about.

I personality agree with her comment “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” I’ve experienced been overweight and ive experienced been a healthy size uk 8 and to be honest you feel a whole lot better about yourself when your thinner, your clothing looks better your body looks better and you look better over all. I eat really healthy and i exercise to achieve a slim toned look and love shopping for clothing and feel more body confident then ever, when i was overweight i didnt want to shop for clothing and i felt depressed looking in the mirror at my own body sometimes i couldnt bare it at all.

I think the message she is sending out isnt all that bad, yes treat yourself to a yummy cake or chocolate bar once in a while but that cake and chocolate bar wont keep you trim for long if abused and did it taste good enough to gain weight and not fit into your skinny jeans anymore? of course it didnt.

We go to a restaurant for lunch or dinner and whatever and they give us a portion for one person that would feed up to four, im not sure alot of people know that but i notice alot dont realise how much they are actually eating and they are having far to much for there body size, people aren’t listing to there own bodies, listen to it, it tells you when your hungry and it tells you when you are full.

So some people with mental health issues such as anorexic or bulimic would stop eating to look like her, kate moss isnt stating she doesnt eat, if she didnt she would be dead by now i bet she listens to her body and feeds it when its craving it at the right times. She isnt promoting anorexia or any eating disorder she probably eats well and healthy and enough for her body, alot of people are over eating due to stress emotional eating and so on and end up gaining weight. How ever i do think under a size 6uk would be hard to achieve and i feel that would be sort of stave mode but i wouldn’t know, i had a friend who is a size 6 and she doesn’t eat for days on end and then eats again and then doesn’t for 3 days or so.

your comments have all been …scary to say the least.
how can you be “proud” that this twig-woman, who all the little girls look up to is advertising restraining herself from food to stay skinny? its totally unhealthy. just eat right and work out. not everyone is built like she is. and this isn’t coming from someone “jealous” or “spiteful”. i’m built like her, too … i was just born this way. everyone should love their bodies and not try to reduce themselves to a waif because some bimbo on tv says so.

Kate is an ass. Why do people even care what she says. She is a dumb model

Emma B - November 24th, 2009 at 1:02 pm

The below comments are just as stupid as Kate’s IMO. She is so much in the public eye, she should be more aware of her impact on young aspiring girls. The debate here is not about obesity, its about deprivation of food (that’s exactly what ‘hunger’ is) to achieve ’skinny’. Lets bear in mind, skinny actually means being underweight. Her comment in no way relates to obtaining a healthy body

In response to the previous comments:

I think Kate Moss is a role model and a modern British icon. I don’t think that wanting to protect our daughters, sisters and friends from eating disorders can ever be considered “spiteful” or “envious”. The obsession with slimness is what creates eating disorders, whether it is anorexia, bulemia or food addiction.

One of the reasons there is an obesity problem is because of women not eating properly form their early teens (possibly younger) as they are aspiring to be like models. Their metabolic rate slows right down. They then become unable to eat like a “normal” person without putting on weight. They become trapped in a starve/binge cycle that makes them put on more weight than they lose.

Obesity is a much bigger problem (than dieting) in most of the west.
Kudos to Kate for not toeing the PC line & answering the question.

The word is Bitchy not shocked. Bitchy people are easily shocked every day as a masquerade for envy. Encouraging people to be slim is a very good thing. “Campaigners” would be shocked at autumn leaves blowing in the street if it helped their shocking campaigns.

dennis perrin - November 22nd, 2009 at 6:17 am

Not at all shocked. Proud. She is not a role model. She is a fashion model. Surprised at a foot of rain in the north of england. Not shcoked. If Gordon Brown had said it, I would be mildly amused. If Kate Moss had fallen overboard from a yacht in the mediterranean and her body not found, I just might be shocked. The word is proud. So much obesity around, so much slovenliness. Beautiful women are rare, especially ones who are successful and look after their bodies. Not shocked. Proud.

So much stupid envy and jealousy. So much spite from women towards successful women. The spite and nasty comments about Kate Moss are shocking.
