Is Lindsay Lohan’s designing career over?

Is Lindsay Lohan's designing career over?

There’s nothing that we here in the Secret Sales office love more than a bit of hot gossip from the designer clothing world.

And I’m pleased to report that after our piece earlier in the week speculated about whether Lindsay Lohan’s relationship with the Emanuel Ungaro brand was well and truly over, we have finally got some answers.

Just as I suspected, the collaboration between the pair - which in my opinion, is singlehandedly responsible for one of the worst clothing collections I have ever seen - has come to an end.

After Lindsay failed to turn up at the Ungaro autumn/winter 2010 show at Paris Fashion Week, the rumour mill went into overdrive suggesting that the duo have parted ways, after their first collection was branded a monumental flop.

But when the temperamental actress managed to actually show up at this week’s Kenzo show, she was asked why she hadn’t bothered put in an appearance.

"I don’t work for them anymore," she confirmed.

"There’s legal things going on; I can’t really discuss it."

While I am waiting with bated breath to hear the full details, I have to admit that I wouldn’t be surprised if they had sacked her as artistic director - after all, sending models down the catwalk in heart-shaped nipple tassels has to be all kinds of wrong.

This is the latest blow to Lindsay’s foray into the designer clothing world - earlier in the year the star was accused of stealing inspiration for her own 6126 collection from a host of upcoming, young designers. Scandalous!

In my opinion the star’s designing career has definitely hit the dust. Do you think her fashion efforts have been any good?

Victoria Beckham wants to dress Michelle Obama

Victoria Beckham wants to dress Michelle Obama

Oh dear, it would appear that our little Victoria Beckham has started to get ideas above her station.

While there is absolutely no doubt that her designer clothing collection has attracted the attention of stars far and wide and was embraced by fashionistas both sides of the pond at New York Fashion Week, I don’t think Giorgio Armani is quaking in his boots just yet.

It would appear that Posh is not content with dressing the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez and Demi Moore and has now set her sights on someone with a considerably greater deal of influence.

Yes, fashion followers, it’s true - Victoria wants her next celebrity fan to be none other than Michelle Obama.

"I would love to dress Mrs Obama," she told Fox News. "I just think she’s incredible and she’s a very strong woman and she’s beautiful."

While the first lady can certainly be commended for her style choices from time to time, I’m not too sure she’d look all that comfortable in one of Victoria’s slinky designer dresses.

Can’t you just imagine it now - Victoria and Michelle having a good chinwag in the White House about fashion, while David and Barack thrash out the political issues of the day. Er, perhaps not.

Do you think Michelle Obama would look good in Victoria Beckham designs?

Lindsay Lohan a no-show at Emanuel Ungaro

Lindsay Lohan a no-show at Emanuel Ungaro

Lindsay Lohan is perhaps not best known for her reliability, or in fact, her designer clothing know-how but that didn’t stop the Emanuel Ungaro brand from taking the star under their wing as artistic director last year.

And unfortunately for the French fashion house, the collaboration between the pair seems to have been one huge flop.

When Lindsay was hired, it was hoped that the young star would inject a bit of life into the somewhat lagging brand - after all, she’s certainly not known for being shy and retiring.

However, her designer clothing debut collection, showcased last October in Paris, was described by fashion commentators as tacky, cheesy and "an embarrassment", with the label absolutely panned for its decision to feature models wearing truly vile heart-shaped nipple tassels.

If this wasn’t bad enough, Lindsay has put the final nail in the coffin by not even bothering to show up for the Emanuel Ungaro autumn/winter 2010 collection on Monday at Paris Fashion Week.

The brand’s owner Ashim Abdullah told Women’s Wear Daily backstage: "She’s not involved in this collection."

So whether Ungaro dumped Lindsay or she decided she just couldn’t be bothered with the world of designer clothing anymore remains to be seen but I know what my money is on!

What do you put Lindsay’s no-show down to?

Paris Fashion Week goes gothic

Paris Fashion Week goes gothic

If you thought that you’d said goodbye to weird gothic trends when you were 13 then I’ve got some bad news . . . it appears that they have made something of a designer clothing comeback on the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week.

While I usually turn to the French capital for the vast majority of my fashion inspiration, I can safely say that this is one trend that I will categorically not be following.

Gone are the chic little Chanel numbers that are so synonymous with the Parisian look and in are gothic-inspired pieces that seem to take their cues from the Witches of Eastwick or suchlike.

Models fashioning looks by Gareth Pugh - who is well-known for his love for all things spooky - wore unusual rubbery-looking black jackets that looked as if you bent the wrong way, they could easily strangle you.

Structured, masculine gothic gowns and jackets also featured on miserable-looking models who quite frankly, looked as though they hadn’t seen the light of day in a substantial number of years.

Ok, ok I know it’s only just began and I know I am biased towards my hometown of London but if Pugh’s show spelled the beginning of future clothing trends for Paris Fashion Week then I think I will be looking elsewhere for my autumn/winter 2010 inspiration.

I much prefer the Christopher Kane gothic romance look that was showcased at London Fashion Week.

Will you be taking on the gloomy gothic trend?

Would you bare your boobs in the name of fashion?

Would you bare your boobs in the name of fashion?

We all know that designer clothing has gone a bit bonkers of late - underwear has become outerwear, double denim is the height of fashion and crikey, even the bum bag has staged a comeback.

And while we here at Secret Sales HQ are pretty grounded in terms of our fashion sense, we do have to admit that we have jumped on the bandwagon of some decidedly dodgy trends in our time (even though I know that may be hard to believe).

But one thing that has surprised even we open-minded folk is the number of ladies out there who would be prepared to bare their boobs in the name of fashion.

A recent study by My Celebrity Fashion has revealed that a staggering one-quarter of you would be prepared to get your assets out in one of this season’s lace numbers or sheer body-style tops.

And a further ten per cent would even be prepared to wear a full sheer lace dress, similar to that fashioned by Lady Gaga at the MTV Music Awards with just a pair of pants underneath!

It would appear that the underwear as outerwear fashion has well and truly caught on of late - department store Selfridge’s recently reported that it has seen a 20 per cent rise in sales of nude nipple covers in response to this daring trend.

Would you bare your bod for fashion?
