Alexander McQueen’s last collection ‘heartbreakingly beautiful’
March 11th, 2010
After Alexander McQueen sadly passed away last month there was absolutely no doubt that the iconic clothing designer would go down in the history books as one of the fashion world’s most prominent figures.
And now his last collection, showcased yesterday (March 9th) at Paris Fashion Week, proved exactly why his beautiful creations look set to be remembered forever.
Intricate detailing, dramatic capes and gothic-inspired designs all featured in the breathtaking autumn/winter 2010 line, which in my mind, is one of the most jaw-droppingly stunning lines I have ever seen.
But it would appear I am not the only one who thinks that the clothing designer’s final collection was perhaps his best, as fashion commentators the world over have being hailing the line a success.
Susannah Frankel over at the Independent described it as "heartbreakingly beautiful", adding that it serves as a testament to "one of the greatest talents the fashion industry has known".
Similarly, Suzy Menkes, of the New York Times, called the showcase "a requiem for a great designer".
Earlier this week, McQueen was awarded with a posthumous accolade at the Brit Insurance Design Awards for his spring/summer 2010 collection, with judge and style editor of Grazia magazine Paula Reed calling the late clothing designer "a clear winner".
Do you think Alexander McQueen’s autumn/winter 2010 collection is his best yet?
