Kite Kids – The brand
A relatively young brand, Kite Kids was launched in the beginning of 2007 by mum of three Jo Spragg. Having previously worked as a childrenswear buyer for over 15 years with the likes of Tesco and Adams, Spragg was no stranger to the industry. But after having children working amongst fast paced, large companies meant that Spragg had to juggle her work and family life, finding the right balance was taking its toll.
With this, Spragg conceived the idea for Kite Kids. Help from her husband who also worked in the industry saw the debut of two exciting collections, but having only small orders to begin with Spragg had to rethink her strategy to make sure her business could survive. The next year the brand was relaunched. Kite Kids began to take off, subsequently going on to be sold outside of the UK, around Europe and the USA. Retailers in Hawaii notably took to the brand which is based in Poole, Dorset and incorporates beach lifestyle into their fashion.
Inspired by the great outdoors, Kite Kids make a conscious effort to make easy wearing clothes which transcend from the beach, sea, and mountains to the comfort of your own home. Kids clothing is meant for adventures. With a huge appreciation of the outdoors, Spragg is ever the more conscious to make sure that her company does all it can to not harm the planet. Kite Kids organic and ethically aware range of boys and girls clothing has received much acclaim from green thumbed earth lovers for maintaining strong quality and designs alike.
Kite Kids – Classic Styles

Contemporary, comfy and conscious of the planet – Kite Kids ticks all the right boxes for parents seeking organic fashion for their young ones. When it comes to ethically sourced fabrics you can’t go wrong with Kite Kids. Organic cotton, bamboo and recycled polyester are the only materials you’ll find here – harmful chemicals are certainly not permitted.
Commonly used pesticides in conventional cotton farming are responsible for an average 20,000 deaths worldwide from accidental poisoning. By using organic cotton in their garments and by letting your children wear them you’re helping to eliminate the use of unethical cotton.
Pure polyester is also notoriously one of the least environmentally friendly fabrics. Made from oil it uses natural resources, however the properties of the fabric make lovely soft and warm fleece – an instant fashion winner. As an alternative to pure polyester Kite Kids only use recycled polyester in their styles. All of their polyester made products contains at least 40% recycled polyester which is made up from recycled plastic bottles, which in turn would otherwise end up in landfill and contaminating soil. As it stands,
Kite Kids are actively searching for a source of 100% recycled polyester.
