In1884, Albert Handschin ventured to achieve his vision of developing a range of lingerie - which is soft to the touch, made of high quality, natural fibres and most importantly comfortable to wear - when he opened his knitwear factory in Liestal Switzerland
Creating high quality textiles for a fashion conscious clientele, Handschin arguably more than achieved his vision and by 1913 HANRO was registered as a trademark by Albert Handschin and his companion Carl Ronus.
HANRO’s early years of development focused upon…
The flower power era of the 1960’s and 1970’s popularised HANRO as the fashion world went crazy for raschel lace and the brands innovative and imaginative creations using raschel tricot. However it was 1985, which saw HANRO secure its place in the fashion lingerie market with the launch of its Cotton Seamless collection. The range included the best selling HANRO Spaghetti Top ‘1501’. The traditional design set a new standard for lingerie design and quickly attained a frequently copied but never equalled cult status.
1999 saw HANRO breaking into the movies as Nicole Kidman was featured wearing the iconic HANRO Spaghetti Top ’1501’ in Stanley Kubriks cult movie, Eye’s Wide Shut.
Subsequent years have seen HANRO focus upon innovation, launching HANRO Touch Feeling, HANRO Perfectly Nude, seam free underwear and HANRO Cotton Sensation; an ultra lightweight cotton for both men and women.
In celebration of their 125th year in industry, HANRO have delved into their archives and have taken inspiration from nostalgia to create a celebratory anniversary collection, composed of three collections; HANRO Tulle de Luxe, HANRO Lace de Luxe and HANRO Seamless de Luxe. Epitomising the brands ethos, the collections combine tradition with modernity, the finest materials and a first class finish paying homage to the timeless style of this luxury lingerie label.
