Versace

Sultry superwomen and sharp, striking men are drawn to Versace like a gold digger is to bling. Oozing over the top glamour and sex appeal, Versace is a household name in fashion for its bold style that doesn’t make any attempts to apologise for its confident dressing.

Versace – The brand

Hailed as one of the most influential men in fashion of the 20th century, Gianni Versace was born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy. Growing up with two siblings, brother Santos and sister Donatella, the family was tight knit, with Gianni helping his dressmaker mother with her work from a young age. She taught him embroidery, and by age 9 Gianni had produced his first dress.

Aged 25 he moved to Milan to work in fashion, working for a number of designers before he launched the first Versace collection in the mid Seventies. The brazen Versace style saw Gianni producing costumes for ballet, opera and theatre productions before attracting the glamorous celebrity clientele it does today.

But sadly Gianni Versace made headlines for all the wrong reasons in 1997 when he was found murdered in his Miami home. The surprise death of one of fashion’s brightest stars sent shockwaves around the world. Santos and Donatella took over the family business, with Donatella’s daughter Allegra, a young child at the time inheriting a 50% share of the company.

Taking over as the head of design, Donatella has pushed controversy within the brand through her daring designs and her own personal life which is constantly in headlines. From her own battles with addiction to her daughter Allegra’s eating disorder the media keeps an eagle eye on the Versace family.

Ignoring her personal struggles no one can deny the revival of Versace brought about by Donatella. Taking the couture fashion house to new levels, Donatella has turned Versace into a lifestyle brand through the expansion of accessories, home furnishings and even hotels. Proving unstoppable through tragedy and misfortune, the glamorous Versace name continues to shine.

Versace – Classic Styles

Consistently sexy, Versace is known for its body hugging, thigh skimming, cleavage baring look. Essentially the more skin on show the better – from Jennifer Lopez’s infamous green dress cut down to her navel, to Elizabeth Hurley’s LBD held together by safety pins, both have Versace to thank for their now infamous red carpet fashion moments.

Though brazen beauties know that Versace’s couture dresses are a go to for show stopping, cameras at the ready style – Versace’s ready to wear collection offers slightly toned down options. Pencil thin trousers, skirts and plunging cocktail dresses with thigh high slits are wearable choices for your inner glamazon.

Instant sex appeal is available with Versace’s lavish range of accessories. Handbags have been crafted with luxury; patent leather and crocodile skin styles have high fashion longevity. Small shoulder bags, clutch bags and larger satchels are just a few of the sassy options.
Shoes by Versace feature soaring stiletto heels, in court sandals, strappy sandals and shoe boots. Siren reds, classic black, beige and dusty blue grey colours make up the palette for these irresistible styles.

Smooth and sophisticated men aren’t shy of the Versace label either, with A Lister’s Brad Pitt, Jamie Foxx and Patrick Dempsey being fans of the brand. Versace’s polished Italian suits are the ultimate luxury for debonair, dapper sorts.

As one of the most high profiting luxury fashion brands, the demand for the coveted Versace label is not going anywhere anytime soon. So, don’t be a shrinking violet, indulge in Italy’s bravest and boldest brand.
