Rock & Republic – The Brand

The early 2000’s saw a huge surge in the premium denim market, and power player Rock & Republic is definitely part to blame for the great jeans comeback. Rock & Republic broke into the denim business in 2002, a time when many other famous denim brands were also getting started.

Michael Ball founded Rock & Republic, designing a now legendary pair of jeans for his girlfriend. With their signature branding on the jean pockets, Rock & Republic’s emblem has been copied by knock off designers worldwide, and sparked a war between existing brands to create the same desired stand out look. Clearly, it’s a war Rock & Republic are winning.

With under a decade in the fashion business, the success of Rock & Republic has been colossal, and that’s due in part to Andrea Bernholtz. As president of the brand, and a close friend of Ball’s, Bernholtz and Ball met at legendary Hollywood nightclub the Viper Room. Both shared a love of the high speed rock and roll lifestyle, and Ball was keen to work with someone who had such an immense background in the luxury fashion business. As a professional cyclist, Ball had previously created racing wear for his team during the 1980’s. But after a serious racing crash, his days competing were temporarily put on hold, and his passion for fashion took on as a new priority.

And so, in 2002 Ball and Bernholtz joined visions to create Rock & Republic; what started out as a contemporary women’s denim brand has grown into an international lifestyle brand, stopping for nothing.
Now with collections worldwide from ready to wear, maternity, kids, accessories, and the newly launched cosmetics line, Rock & Republic have firm grasp on the future.

Rock & Republic – Classic Styles
