Dents the Brand

The history of Dents of England can be traced back to 1777, when brand creator, John Dent established his accessory company manufacturing fine leather gloves in Worcester, England
Throughout the years the company continued to mature and evolve under the guidance of John’s two son’s John and William. By 1833 Dents had expanded sufficiently to allow for employment of over 100 craftsmen and women at its factories based in both London and Worcester. Traditional hand cutting and stitching techniques employed in the factories back then are still practised today, a unique skill which Dents is proud to keep alive.

From the outset, Dents of England was a dynamic exporter, successfully selling to the finest shops and stores in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Today, Dents has more than 250 concessions located in various leading department stores within the U.K. and Europe.
Dents of England are proud to having been bestowed royal affirmation, when in 1937, Dents were entrusted the honour of manufacturing the Coronation Glove worn by H.R.H. King George IV at his coronation. In 1953 Dents was once again honoured, when the company was approached to manufacture the Coronation Glove worn by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at her coronation.
Although famed for the unrivalled craftsmanship of their fine leather gloves, Dents has always been involved with the design and production of fine accessories. Today the Dents Collection includes gloves, belts, handbags, socks and small leather goods for both men and women.
Dents gloves are still cut by hand, one pair at a time. Even now it takes Dents craftspeople 32 different operations to make a single pair of leather gloves. It is this level of commitment to excellence that has become the brands hallmark.
