Aftershock: History of the brand.

The story of how the premium fashion brand, Aftershock came into existence is not one without its trials and tribulations. Having migrated to the UK from India in an effort to marry, Hiro and Radhika Harjani - united in their passion for creating stunning fabrics and beautiful clothing - began their inspiring tale when Radhika was forced to sacrifice her wedding ring in order to afford the cost of a market stall in Petticoat Lane, in London’s East End. The stall opened in 1985 and together Hiro and Radhika embarked on the journey to achieve their dream to eventually create a novel and exclusive fashion concept.

Despite a series of family and financial troubles - the result of which coined the brands title, thus named after the period following the distress experienced in both their lives - the collection comprising of fashionable, contemporary day and eveningwear grew into a flourishing success and following the implementation of Aftershock Accessories in the late nineties, the pair acquired their first retail store located in London’s fashionable South Molten Street in 2002. This followed a year later with a second store opening in London’s exclusive Kings Road in Chelsea.

Renowned for its feminine, distinctive and sophisticated designs, the brand has evolved into a red carpet regular seen on a number of celebrities including Madonna, Paris Hilton, Charlotte Church, Helen Mirren, Lisa Snowdon and Kirsty Gallacher, to name but a few.
Today the brand employ over 500 staff worldwide as they retain over fifty stores within the UK and Europe as well as stores scattered about the Middle East and South Africa. The brand continues to expand via its own stores as well as its successful international franchise programme.

Aftershock: Popular styles.

Described frequently as distinctively feminine, stylish and chic with a clear influence combining East meets West; Aftershock incorporates Eastern embroidery on Western cuts and designs. Prints and intricate handiwork of which are lain upon luxurious natural fibres such as silk, satin and soft cottons. 

Aside from the magnificent cut and quality fabrics which go hand in hand with Aftershock’s designs, it is also the high specifications and eye for detail with regards to details such as trims and fastenings which ensure you are purchasing a premium item.

Creating beautiful yet ethical clothing, Aftershock prides itself upon its strong ethical polices enforced throughout the production of its garments and accessories. Hiro and Radhika ensure the factories employ only practised artisan hand-beaders whilst in turn operating a strict policy forgoing underage labour. In addition, Aftershock ensures all of its sourced fabrics are produced in like-minded factories and as a brand are proud to donate annually to children's charities and hospitals within the local area.


Renowned for their eveningwear, the exclusive Gold Collection by Aftershock continues to be more luxurious than ever. Evening and occasion wear remains focused upon the cut, line and silhouette of the garment, while Swarovski crystal and sequin embellishment create decorative touches enhancing the overall glamour of the items.
