Peg it
November 20th, 2008
Just because something’s in vogue, it does not, repeat not, mean that you should go out and buy it.
This is one fashion faux pas I have been the victim of more times than I care to remember and one that I thought I had learnt my lesson on.
If only I was not so tempted by glossy magazines, pushy sales people and my own delusions of grandeur.
One such recent shopping trip saw me convincing myself that yes I did indeed need - no have - to get myself a pair of peg leg trousers.
As this season’s must have I just had to get myself a pair.
Alarm bells should have been ringing when I spotted a picture of model Agyness Deyn looking a bit strange in a pair.
If the model of the moment can’t pull the look off what hope in hell do I have?
The answer, not much, but was I deterred? Hell no.
I even teamed them with a pair of ankle boots and an oversized blazer which at least detracted from the trousers themselves.
The outcome? I left the shop feeling fashion forward and totally Of The Moment. Then I got home to realise that I looked like a reject from an MC Hammer video. Not my finest hour.
What’s the worst fashion faux pas you’ve ever made?
